  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup dried figs, chopped
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. 
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon (if preferred).
  4. In a smaller bowl, beat the eggs, olive oil, and vanilla extract.
  5. Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the dried figs and dark chocolate chips.
  7. Shape the dough into two logs on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove and let the baked logs cool for 10 minutes.
  9. Slice the logs into pieces and return the baking sheet to the oven, cut side up, for 15 minutes more.
  10. Let the biscotti cool completely before serving.
